AT&T Launches New HomeManager Web Tablet + DECT Phone System

Interesting development from the AT&T residential camp. The company has recently launched a new product bundle called AT&T HomeManager ($499 without contract, $299 with U-verse VoIP service) that provides users a wireless 7-inch web tablet / speaker phone (which they call a “frame”), that’s tied to a variety of AT&T information and communication services, a touchscreen DECT phone, and a wireless base station that connects to your router. However, the most compelling feature of the frame is its nice widgetized interface that gives one access to email, contact lists (the system is capable of synchronizing with your AT&T mobile phone), YELLOWPAGES.COM directory (set favorites, view maps / directions, email a contacts details), real-time news / weather updates, call logs, voice mail, and more. Intel Intros Remote Wake Technology – Will Be HUGE for Digital Home Users
Now that’s what I’m talking about! Intel has just announced that next month consumers will start seeing motherboards featuring their new embedded Remote Wake technology that enables consumers to “wake up” their home PC from an energy-efficient sleep mode to access all their media, anytime, from any internet-connected device. The technology also works with VoIP to accept incoming calls. To help put this in perspective, PC users will no longer be locked out, and have certain media and communication applications be inaccessible, when their computers are powered down to S3 sleep state to save electricity. T-Mobile Rolls Out $9.99 a Month @Home Service
I was just browsing T-Mobile’s website and noticed that the company is now offering unlimited (day/night/weekend) nationwide home phone service for just $10 bucks a month. That’s huge! The $9.99 plan requires the purchase of a T-Mobile @Home HiPort Wireless Router that you can connect up to two standard phones and/or a T-Mobile HotSpot enabled phone. Granted, you have to have a working high-speed Internet connection for the service to work. But, hey… what a deal.
Service includes: call hold, call waiting, caller ID, voicemail with message alert, and discounted long distance calls to Canada and Mexico. Optional CallerTunes, for customized ring tones that your caller hears, is also available.

ZyXEL Announces the First Wireless SIP-Based Webcam
Unlike ordinary IP webcams that you can access on your PC via a web browser, the ZyXEL V750W has another trick up its sleeve that makes it an even more compelling offering — you can call it and have a video chat (well, almost). All you need to do is ring it up like you would another Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) client (think Skype, but a with SIP client that uses the industry’s open VoIP standard — i.e. Gizmo, Ekiga, and others) and it will pick up and begin a video chat session, with two-way audio. What’s more, users can control pan, tilt, zoom with their dial pad keys and even program the V750W to call you (remember, with live video) when motion is detected and/or set off an alarm. The full press release provided after the jump. MORE »
