Linux-based iSetBox is a Do It All Wonder
Shaped like an alien spaceship, or a souped-up digital Hershey’s Kiss, the iSetBox is impressive on multiple fronts. The “all-in-one entertainment center” includes everything you’d expect in a do-it-all wonder. CD and DVD writer, Analog and Digital TV recording, web browsing and email support, 6 in 1 card reader are coupled with the ability to record digital or analog radio, timeshifting functionality and all sorts of audio, video and communication input and output ports.
Interestingly, the site says the iSetBox can be managed and programmed locally or remotely via the internet. It also claims to be noiseless (no fans peeps), which - ignoring it’s funkdified shape - would make it living room friendly. Their FAQ even states the ability to use VoIP with the device, although you’d expect any PC to be able to support that. the iSetBox will also support NTSC standards and will have DVI and/or HDMI support in the 4th quarter. However, if you want one (have a strange Hershey’s Kiss fetish?), you’ll have to find a service provider to get it for you, as they don’t sell straight to consumers. Start nagging your cable company now to see if they’ll help you get your fix.
