Microsoft SideShow Enabled Devices Demo’d at WinHEC
CE Pro snapped up a few pics and jotted notes on what Microsoft and its partners have in store with Microsoft’s SideShow embedded media technology at WinHEC this week. Companies like Exceptional Innovations are planning on delivering universal media/automation remotes with real-time data on things going on around the house (i.e. security, lighting, HVAC, etc.), a company called A Living Picture has a wireless picture frame that can display data/notifications/instant messages over images just about ready to go, and host of companies will be offering universal media remotes that will enable users to browse pictures, scan electronic programming guides, and even pull RSS feed headlines from their Media Center PC. Overall, the devices look promising, but I wonder if this is too much information overload? Expect to see SideShow enabled devices around the same time Windows Vista launches in 2007.
