Patoh RochiP2P 250 NAS Doubles as P2P Client

patoh rohcip2p250 nasTake one part Buffalo Link Station, one part peer-to-peer networking and one part ingenuity and creativity and you get a device the MPAA and RIAA fear like Satan, the Patoh RochiP2P (via Engadget). Sound like a bit much? Well, maybe, but that doesn’t stop it from being impressive. The Patoh device works as a NAS should, giving you networked based storage with automated backup options and the like. It doesn’t end there, however.

The RochiP2P also works as a printer server, although only for PostScript compatible printers that don’t require bi-directional communication, so that functionality may be somewhat neutered. However, where the RochiP2P really shines is in it’s ability to download files from various networks without your PC having to be on at the time. The Patoh wonder is compatible with networks like eDonkey2000, FastTrack and the ever popular BitTorrent. The ability to download content with a low power consuming device is interesting to say the least. Be sure, the RIAA and MPAA will have no love for Patoh and their device. For the rest of us, it’s a pretty cool twist on NAS devices.
