VoIP Calling for $9.95 a Month Without Broadband

chatter bugAT&T and the other long distance carriers are gonna flip-out when they find out about the Chatter Bug - a device that lets you make unlimited long distance calls in the US and to Canada for $9.95 a month without needing your own Broadband connection (via Real Tech News). Now, you may not be interested if you’re connected to the ‘Net at highspeeds, but for those still in the dial-up age, this solution may just be worth a look. The chatter bug will cost you $24.95 before you can pay the $9.95 monthly fee.

The Chatter Bug connects to your existing land-line (which you must have) and intercepts your long-distance calls. It takes that call and redirects it to their VoIP service, making your phone work as if you were still using a carrier, except that you’re now sticking it to the man! Hoorah! Also, an International calling service will be available by the end of the first quarter. So, if you’re calling your Aunt Edna in Italy, the Chatter Bug will work for you soon enough. It looks like a good solution for those who do alot of long-distance calling, but can’t take advantage of services like Vonage or Skype.
