Acer MP-500 PMP Features Touchscreen

acer pmpFor those of us that remember the days of Packard Bell, the name Acer should echo in our minds as well. The manufacturer has remained in the PC market through their line of laptops and it appears that a little branching out is in order. MobileMag has a few details about a new PMP, the MP-500, from Acer that could garner some positive attention for the company. For starters, the PMP will feature a 3.5 inch screen at 320×240 resolution and hard drive capacities of 20 and 40GB. The MP-500 also features 4 hours of video playback or 8 hours for audio. The built-in microphone and integrated TV-out also make this PMP well rounded.

However, none of those features is particularly impressive apart from the fact that the screen is a touchscreen. Complete with a stylus, it’s apparent from the design of the MP-500 that controls will almost be handled exclusively by interacting with the touchscreen. Though there isn’t a launch date or price set, this PMP looks intriguiing and with rumors of Apple releasing a touchscreen Video iPod, very timely.
