Elonex’s Lumina 2 MCE PC Built Into a HDTV
Our friends across the pond get some really cool innovations that I wish we’d see more of here abroad. For example, the new Lumina 2 series LCD HDTVs, featured in Stuff Magazine from Elonex, showcase what convergence can be like when it is done right (via Engadget). The impressive HDTV showcases native 1366×768 WXGA resolution, an HDMI input along with 2 component and RGB scart connections. You can get it in 32 and 40 inch versions as well.
The internals sport some pretty impressive specs including a Pentium M processor, 1GB of RAM and 400GB of hard disk space. The digital tuner is paired with a standard “analogue” tuner, allowing you to record and watch at the same time. The nVidia 6600 video card is good enough for gaming, though not cutting edge. The included Dual-Layer DVD Burner will let you archive shows from the MCE 2005 interface. Pretty nice, but at £2600 ($4,535) and £3300 ($5,756) for the 32 and 40 inch models respectively, you’ll be paying a premium for this integrated beauty.
