QuickerTek 27dBm Transceiver / Wireless Signal Booster

quickertek 27dmm transceiverOkay everyone… prepare to be impressed. A company called QuickerTek has released a product suite of 27dBm transceiver adapters for both Mac and Windows PCs that – get this – give users wireless connectivity with networks up to 1 mile away (via Gizmodo). The developer explains:

The Transceiver works like an antenna booster. It basically takes over the wireless signals functions from the internal antenna and amplifies them. So you get more networks and far better speeds.

Once installed, it doesn’t require you to do anything different. You just open the connection window and select from a huge list of available networks up to a mile from your desk. And when you’re connected, the signal strength is impressive. You won’t be disappointed.

Sounds to us like a great product to mooch free wireless Internet with from your neighborhoods, or more likely, get a stronger signal in a house that has very dense walls with multiple floors. The only catch, the various transceivers run around $200 a piece.
