GLAN Tank Media Server
Come January 2006, you can militarize your home network with the GLAN Tank, a NAS device that will house 2 x 3.5-inch hard drives whose storage can be combined or mirrored (via Gizmodo). This particular NAS has a nice set of features including Gigabit Ethernet, an XScale 416 Mhz CPU, 128MB RAM, 4 USB 2.0 Ports and runs Debian GNU/Linux OS.
Because it runs as a server, it can be used by iTunes, Telnet, FTP, and Web Publishing amongst other useful server apps. Additionally, I-O Data’s AVeL LinkPlayer 2 network DVD player is compatible with the GLAN Tank, allowing you to stream your media straight to your television. There is, however, no cannon or gatling gun included. Expect to pay around $215 for this monster NAS if you can get one imported in from Asia.
