Intel Atom Chips with NVIDIA graphics were nice, maybe for the last two years, but now MSI is taking things up a notch performance-wise with their line of Wind Box nettops. The company has redesigned the product offering and is expanding the consumer base by offering three models to suite people’s needs: 1-liter Wind Box DC100 ultra-mini PC; the 4.7-liter Wind Box DC540 desktop; and the 10-liter Hetis H61 desktop. According to the company’s press release, the slim DC100 will be powered by an AMD E-350 APU (best known for its low power consumption and HD playback capabilities), the DC540 will leverage Intel’s Cedar Trail-D Atom processor, and the top of the line DC540 will tap Intel’s 2nd generation, Sandy Bridge Core processor. All models rely on their integrated graphics — so choose wisely. Best bet is the DC100 if you want to build a basic SFF HTPC. The high-end DC540 will be you better option, if you’re looking for a desktop replacement. Price and availability: TBA (most likely this Summer).
