Not a fan of pushing rumors, but this news seems intriguing. An Engadget tipster is telling the site that he’s discovered code in iOS 4.3 that signals Apple may be working on something special for Apple TV in terms of gaming, pointing to the “ATVGames”, “ATVThunder” strings as proof of the future offering. However, as everyone knows, Apple TV only has 8GB of onboard storage, so it’s unclear where the games will be hosted. The tipster speculates Apple may be making a move to the cloud like OnLive’s platform, but it’s probably more likely that Apple TV will support gaming via AirPlay from an iOS device which will then double as the controller — kind of like what we saw late last year with The Incident iPhone-to-iPad TV dock game demo.
