GTV Hacker Finds a Way to Add Android Market and Hulu Support to the Logitech Revue with Google TV

Talk about a hack! GTV Hacker has found a hardware and software workaround to root Logitech’s Revue set-top box with Google TV (instructions here), a feat that reminds me of the original Xbox hacks. As a result, GTV Hacker was awarded the $1,000 bounty offered by magicandroidapps.com. The hack, in addition, has enabled GTV Hacker to add Android Market to the platform (yes, that means you can run Android Apps on your TV!), as well as substitute the default Flash player optimized for Google TV to a generic Flash player compatible with Hulu. Check it out. FYI, if you’re thinking about doing this, it requires some soldering, technical know-how, and a Logitech Revue without any updates — hopefully rooting your Google TV device, in time, will get easier.
