ASUS to Unveil the 12-inch, Core i5, Windows 7 Eee Slate EP121 at CES 2011

asus ep121 teaser video

Talk about a teaser! ASUS has got a slate like no other (at least that we know of) coming to CES 2011. The slate (aka tablet) is powered by Windows 7, boasts and an impressive 12-inch multi-touch display, and leverages Intel’s latest Core i5 processor. In other words, the Eee Slate EP121 is a full-blown notebook, minus the keyboard. Being that I was recently looking for a 14-inch laptop with a Core i5 processor and switchable NVIDIA optimus graphics, I know that a laptop with this configuration can last nearly 7 hours. As such, it’s doable that this slate, with its smaller display, may be able to hit 8 – 9 hours of battery life, if correctly optimized (note: we don’t know which type of graphics this slate will have integrated). Other nice features the EP121 will include: SD card slot for expandability, HDMI out for HDTV video playback, a built-in webcam for video chat, and a USB port. More details will be provided next month at

The Roku can’t access files on your network. You have to have a USB drive plugging in directly. Very limited.
