Hands-on with Philips’ GoGear Connect at IFA 2010

SlashGear has posted a hands-on video and photo gallery for the $320 Philips GoGear Connect that we reported on earlier in the week. Unfortunately, it’s not as cool as I was hoping for — especially after seeing the $199 ARCHOS 4.3-inch Android tablet with a 1Ghz processor. But there’s still a lot to like… and we now have confirmation that it does include a microphone for voice recording or VoIP calls. The other thing we’re learning is that the device sports custom audio, video, and image apps created by Philips to enhance the Android experience (you can see them in the demo below) — but the UI is not multi-touch enabled (ouch!). Nonetheless, SlashGear states that the audio app is a “brilliant example of how music management can be done right – three columns shift intuitively through artist, album and tracks – and we wish Google would ‘borrow’ it for native Android.” Hmmm, seems like Philips might have a tough sell here. What do you think?
