Apple TV to Be Renamed iTV?

Engadget’s source close to Apple says the company will rename the Apple TV to iTV (it’s original internal name before it went public). What’s more, the $99 TV adapter with 16GB of flash storage that was reported on earlier this Summer will only support 720p HD video out, not 1080p — supposedly it’s limited by the A4 chip currently being used. The last nugget of info gleaned from the source is that iTV will in fact be getting app support, but it’s unclear if they’ll be device specific or cross-pollinated by iPhone, iPad apps. I’m betting on them being device specific for the fact that Apple takes pride in their out of the box user experience – I can’t see iPhone apps running on a TV being a good idea. ETA: Fall 2010.
