ASRock Vision 3D HTPC and AIWI iPhone/iPod Touch Motion Controller App Unveiled

Nice to see ASRock is not sitting back after their early success with its Intel Atom + NVIDIA ION nettop HTPCs. The company, at Computex 2010, is showing off a new, sliver / black aluminum wrapped HTPC that’s capable of displaying 3D games and movies via its GeForce 300 / 400 GPU. The future ASRock Vision 3D HTPCs will come equipped with either an Intel Core i7 / i5 / i3 mobile processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 x 2.5″ HDD, USB 3.0, memory card slot, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 7.1 channel THX certified audio, HDMI, and will have the option for a Blu-ray drive (Vision 3D-BD spec chart). No word on pricing, but there’s word all units will come with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed — unlike its previous barebones brethren. In addition, this HTPC, as well as ASRock’s latest motherboards, will include the company’s new AIWI utility which will enable owners to use their iPhone or iPod Touch as a motion controller similar to the Nintendo Wiimote for gaming. Interestingly, the AIWI technology can function either over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and can double as a 3-in-1 function keyboard, mouse, powerpoint presenter (demo below).

Obviously aside from what the price is, only interested if the HDMI port is coming from the core i3/i5 and not the NVidia GPU. Odds are it is highly unlikely though since t he Nvidia GPU is what is pumping out the 3D, but without the ability to bitstream hd audio (which the core i3/i5 can do but the NVidia GPU cannot) this HTPC does not have a place in my Home Theater Setup.
