Alessi Intros the AlessiTAB Android Countertop Tablet with Video Chat

Nice to see new tablet form factors sprouting up. This little gem will be manufactured by Itailian household goods maker, Alessi, and is set to be released in Europe this September for €300 (about $400). The AlessiTAB, as you’ll see in the presentation video below, can be operated laid down or upright. It includes a separate charging station to power up its battery (rated for 6 hours of autonomous use) and also includes a set of built-in speakers, a front-facing webcam, Wi-Fi, and ports consisting of USB, SD card, Ethernet, and A/C power. The AlessiTAB is targeted to cooks, but can be used as an infotainment device anywhere in the home. [via / via]
