While we’re still months away from the HP Slate launch (rumor has it may be as early as this June), HP has produced a new commercial showcasing features lacking on the iPad. Of course, the commercial doesn’t mention the iPad by name or show the device, but it does subtly focus on the features missing from its chief rival like a webcam (both back and front-facing! – see Skype demo), USB port, SD card slot (funny that they use a 16GB card in the video — the same storage capacity of the entry-level $499 iPad), and, unexpectedly, a new HDTV media dock (boo-yah!). The video also shows that its tablet UI layer blends in nicely on top of Windows 7. I wouldn’t be surprised to see HP release a video in the future of how the Slate can stream music, photos, and video wirelessly from its HP MediaSmart Servers and other UPnP-enabled PCs and storage devices (another thing iPad can’t do natively).
