ASUS Launches the TS Mini Windows Home Server

Windows Home Server and its related products have been a big hit for Windows PC users since its inception in 2007. Now, ASUS is getting in the game and is introducing the TS Mini to the world. This little energy-efficient, powerhouse packs a 1.66Ghz Intel Atom N280 processor, 1-2GB of DDR2 memory, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x eSATA ports, and 2 x internal hard drive bays with one taken up with either a 500GB, 1TB, or 2TB 3.5-inch SATA drive.
While the specs may seem decent for such a small package (9.6″ (H) x 3.8″ (W) x 8″ (D)), the TS Mini has some noteworthy features built right in that help separate it from the rest of the crowd. Highlights include:
- Backups for up to 10 networked computers
- Smart storage which only backups one copy of a file found on multiple computers
- Remote access and media streaming from your Windows Live account online
- DLNA/UPnP media streaming
- 500GB of online storage to synchronize data in the cloud (free for the first year)
- Xtor Manager which manages files and folders found on the device and across various external storage drives
- Real-time system status and hardware monitoring with email error report notifications
- Energy Star 5.0 certification – under idle and active mode, the TS Mini consumes 25.5-27.9W
MSRP: 500GB – $349.99, 1TB – ???, 2TB – $529.99 [Listed on Amazon]
