I liked a lot of what VIZIO’s Matthew McRae had to say to the audience at NewTeeVee LIVE. McRae believes the TV’s strongest new attribute is the connected experience where Internet powered TV widgets will tap into social networks, premium content services, and data services. Of course, as many of you know, VIZIO is an early mover in this space and has integrated the Yahoo! TV widget engine into their network enabled HDTVs.
McRae also talked about the company’s new Bluetooth slider QWERTY remote (hints that iPhone, Android remote apps are in the pipeline), TV web surfing (says the company will wait for a TV targeted browser to make an appearance), and 3D TV. From the sound of it, VIZIO is open to testing the waters on any new technology and working with content publishers to bring their content to their products.
Current VIA | VIZIO Internet app partners include: Amazon Video On Demand, Blockbuster On Demand, Showtime, Vudu, Netflix, Pandora, Rhapsody, eBay, Facebook, RadioTime, Revision3, Rallypoint Sports, and Twitter.
