Lenovo IdeaCentre Q700 Series ‘Ultra’ Small Form Factor HTPC

It seems like it’s the rise of the machines with all the new mini and small form factor HTPCs coming to market. This week Lenovo has unveiled what it hopes will be the top dog in the sub-$500 small form factor HTPC space and nudge some of the spotlight away from the mini Intel Atom N330 + NVIDIA ION products that everyone has been oh-ing and ah-ing as of late.

What makes the Lenovo IdeaCentre Q700 stand apart from the rest of the crowd is that it offers a built-in TV tuner and a real desktop CPU: Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E5200 Processor ( 2.50GHz 800MHz 2MB L2 Cache ). And the graphics aren’t bad either. The Q700 features Intel’s latest integrated graphics chipset (X4500), which makes easy work of playing 1080p video. Unfortunately, there’s currently no option available for a Blu-ray player at this time (though Intel states that the X4500 – G43 Express Chipset can support it).

Starting Configuration – $499:
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core 2.5Ghz E5200 Processor

Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
4 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
320GB, 7200RPM HDD (+ $50 for 640GB)
DVD±RW drive
NTSC / ATSC TV Tuner

Optional 802.11g Wi-Fi adapter available

Odd that they don't offer BluRay. Maybe they expect you to get your 1080p content from other sources. Hmm..
