I’m sure there were a few of you out there who were digging the Movieplex DVD movie manager we covered last week for Mac OS X. Well guys… KavaMovies ($35) is another worthy competitor to look at. As of version 1.2, KavaMovies now includes a wizard that lets users import movies from their “Movies folder, iTunes collection, and other programs” and then provides an interface to assign the right movie data to each title discovered. What’s more, users can launch selections for playback directly from the application, as well as, acquire additional movies for their collection via Amazon, iTunes, and even BitTorrent. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what this program can do. For complete details and tour of its feature, click here.

KavaSoft announces KavaMovies 1.2 – The Mac Movie Database

KavaSoft has announced KavaMovies 1.2, the Mac movie database. KavaMovies lets you organize the movies you’ve seen, the movies you want to see, and the movies in your collection. It connects to the internet and downloads tons of information about each of your movies in realtime.

Imagine making a list of all the movies you’ve ever seen? You’d be surprised how easy it is with KavaMovies. Click a movie to see who’s in it. Click an actor to see what they’ve been in. Directors, genres, keywords, charts, languages, years… everything is connected!

Use KavaMovies to make a list of all the movies you want to see. Click on a movie you like, and it will recommend ten other movies. Better yet, the program makes a master list all the movies you’re most likely to enjoy, based on all the movies in your personal database.

KavaMovies organizes all the movies on your computer (or your shelf). Drag a movie file to the program and it remembers where it is. Just click play to watch whatever you want. It’s your whole collection at your fingertips.

KavaMovies 1.2 makes it easier than ever to import your movie collection from your Movies folder, your iTunes collection, or other programs. It includes new import options, and features a new import wizard to step you through finding the right movie for each title.

Don’t have a movie? Toolbar buttons let you buy it from Amazon on DVD, or from the iTunes Store online. And downloading with BitTorrent has never been simpler: one click to search, another click to start the download in your favorite client.

Pricing and Availability:
KavaMovies costs $35 (USD), and can be purchased using PayPal or Kagi. You can try all the features of KavaMovies with up to 100 movies for free.
