  1. I bought one of these a few years back and was really disappointed with the reception quality. If you are trying to transfer music more then 10 feet, you lose the signal, so whatever you want to listen to has to be close to your computer which defeats the purpose. If you are close enough to your computer to hear it, then you don’t really need a radio in order to listen to your music. It would be better if they allowed for a more powerful signal, but I think that there are FCC restrictions on how powerful it can be.

  2. But have you tried this precise model? The product’s FAQ states: “Most of our customers achieve 40 - 70 feet depending on their situation.” Also, C. Crane has an excellent reputation in the radio business. The reviews on Amazon are also positive for the most part. The thing to keep in mind is that this isn’t one of those dinky little adapters that people get to transmit their iPod’s audio to their FM car stereo.

  3. [...] Everyone I know has tried several different ways to transmit music from their MP3 player to their car, yet many of those products fail to live up to expectations. Some reasons why they don’t produce perfect quality audio through a FM reciever are; 1. lack of external power, and 2. lack of antenna. The C. Crane Digital FM Transmitter ($70) has tackled both those obstacles, allowing it to transmit audio from any device with a standard headphone jack to a nearby FM radio receiver in perfect stereo quality. The device even transmits 40 - 70 feet away! Now you can enjoy internet radio, and music from your mp3 player on that legacy audio system. [via] [...]
