Marshall does an excellent job of making the guide understandable for the average joe and even details which components he opted for to build his sub-$600 system. (See… it’s not that scary.)     I can’t tell you how far off this guy is from building an HTPC. The components he picked, with exception to the memory is far from optimal for a living room environment. Sorry..but he gets a D-.
