SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone Just Around the Corner

Sure the iPhone is a very capable internet video player, but what about streaming content from your home PC, DVR, or cable set-top? As you may have heard already, Orb beat everyone to the punch and unveiled a free iPhone solution on May 8th. However, I know there are plenty of proud Slingbox owners out there waiting for a solution native to their platform to make an entrance into the ring. Well, good news. MegaZone, the newly appointed Sr. Project Manager at Sling Media, tells me that the company has a working “proof of concept” iPhone App making the demo rounds on a “jail broken” iPhone. But don’t fret… with Apple’s new SDK announced at WWDC, Sling Media plans on porting the code and provide the application to both the iPhone and iPod Touch platforms as soon as everything is up to snuff with the new SDK — hopefully in time for the official iPhone App Store opening in July.
UPDATE: I just did a quick search on YouTube and found that our friend Dave Zatz (now a former Sling Media employee) has posted a demo video of the app in action. Check it out.
