Banshee Music Player for Linux Adds Video Playback Support

Banshee 1.0 Alpha Video Library

Lookout, Miro. Banshee is adding video support to its list of features. According to the v1.0 Alpha 2 release notes, Banshee’s video library function provides “searching, playlists, smart playlists, queuing, and even bookmarks.” What’s more, music and video content is clearly defined and separated in the UI so users won’t see content mixed together while browsing or searching. The only logical thing missing (I think) is an online video subscription feature like its subscribe to podcast function. Note: people interested in trying out this Alpha release should know that this a development version and does not provide “feature parity” with mainline packages.
