First, let me say right off the bat, I really admire and respect Guy Kawasaki for his business accomplishments and his involvement with the tech community here in Silicon Valley (I even bought his last book, The Art of the Start), but let me ask you folks: Did he go too far (or not enough) in mocking Ballmer about Windows Vista at MIX08?

Guy Kawasaki sounds like a total tool.
I don’t think he was too harsh on Steve, but his constant ‘TERRIBLE’ laughing was so annoying.

I agree the nervous laughing was kind of annoying, but I thought for sure Ballmer was going to reach over and pop him one. Notice how he kept tossing and slamming Guy’s AirBook on his lap and floor with disdain? It’s true that Guy didn’t really bring up any solid examples of why he felt the OS was crap other than saying people don’t have a choice when buying a new PC. Last I check the only OS you can get from Apple was OS X. In any case, there is lots to gripe about regarding Vista (too bad there wasn’t time for a point by point discussion), but it was entertaining and kind of disturbing seeing Ballmer pressed on the subject.

And your point is? The point Guy was making is that people are being forced to upgrade to Vista, when many prefer XP, because of Vista’s drawback. It’s worth noting that sales don’t reflect use, as many people are downgrading. Business sales of Vista automatically come with a downgrade license for XP and it’s pretty clear that the vast majority of business are doing just that.
Vista sale does not equal Vista use. Vista ME is a failure. Wait for Windows 7.
