Belkin Conserve Surge Protector

I know… yuck, surge protectors. However, that sentiment is probably the reason why the Belkin Conserve didn’t get as much press coverage as it deserved when it was unveiled at CES 2008. What makes this product unique is that it has been designed to literally turn on/off power to all your connected wall warts while they’re not in use via a separate mountable wireless switch that functions in a similar manner to your room light switch. The surge protector provides 8 outlets: 6 “switchable” and 2 “always-on”. As you can see, it’s an ideal product for those who are energy conscious or those who just want to make a noticeable dent to their energy bill. FYI, it recently won Popular Mechanics’ Editor Choice Award. Check out the following CNET video to see the product in action. The Belkin Conserve Surge Protector should be available around April and retail for $49.99.
