Get Internet TV Streams Through Vista Media Center with MiraWorldTV
Couch potatoes rejoice! If you’re tiring of the 550 different reality shows and game shows currently corrupting the airwaves, you have an alternative. No, I’m not talking about exercise or physical activity – though I would recommend it every now and then. I’m talking about MiraWorldTV – a free plugin for Windows Media Center that brings internet TV streams to your Vista Media Center (via Missing Remote).
The MiraWorldTV plugin integrates beautifully with Vista MCE due to the fact that – according to Missing Remote – it utilizes the latest MCML (Media Center Multimedia Layer) rather than the older MCE API. So, what about the content? Well, you may be dodging the fifth airing of “Celebrity Apprentice Murder Kitchen Real World Vegas – 8″, but what you’re trading it for may be more awkward than entertaining. There does appear to be some decent stuff (BBC News, Discovery Channel programming) and some bizarre stuff (Rapture TV, German Computer/Music station). And as would be expected, the quality is certainly not HD and is directly impacted by your own broadband limitations. But, if you’re in the mood for some esoteric content or you simply want to get into the German Computer/Music scene a little more, MiraWorldTV will get you there.
