Netflix WatchNow Plug-In for Windows Media Center Under Development
Watching a full-length movie in a browser window as with Netflix Online seems either very low-tech, ridiculous or both. Sure, a little Youtube style flash player is fine for watching a 30-second clip of some guy hitting a burning, gasoline filled watermelon with a baseball bat. Trying to have a Lord of the Rings movie night on NetFlix Online though is not going to work out that well, no matter how many people dress up like Gandalf.
Fortunately,The Netflix Watchnow Plugin (via Missing Remote) is being developed to finally put an end to huddling around a computer screen to watch movies or bruising the integrity of a home theater by having Firefox framing the movie. Using the simple interface, a user will be able to peruse and watch movies in Windows Media Center without a browser.
While it may seem like a simple innovation, it makes a world of difference. It ascends online NetFlix service to being just as good as the mail based DVD service, and it’s free. Expect an update upon its release.
