Shuttle $199 Linux PC in the Works

shuttle kpc blueIt seems that Shuttle has received the memo that Linux is finding a niche in budget PC systems. As such, Shuttle is getting set to release their KPC line featuring a fully equipped (not barebones) $199 Linux PC and a barebones version for $99. According to CNET News (via The Linux Action Show!), the $199 KPC will “have an Intel Celeron processor, a 945GC chipset, 512MB of memory and either a 60GB or 80GB hard drive. What it won’t have: an optical drive or a PCI Express slot. Despite that, it’s a pretty good-looking box, and comes in red, blue, white, and black, each with a different icon stamped on the front.” As for the $99 version, Shuttle will leave the choice of CPU, memory, and hard drive storage options up to you.

  1. New details about the Shuttle KPC’s OS (will run Foresight OS) and official product page have appeared. And, yup, the price is still $199.
