Google’s Rumored GDrive to Store and Possibly Stream Content to Users Online?
Besides allowing users to backup their data files, music, video clips, and images from their personal computers, the Wall Street Journal is reporting (via Reuters) that GDrive could let users access their files through the Internet from different computers and mobile devices when they sign on using a password, as well as, share their content with friends. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how the service will work (most likely it will just allow users to download media content to their device and open data files using Google Docs), but wouldn’t be nice if it functioned similarly to Orb or Media Master and optimized music and video content for streaming playback on a particular device (say Google Android, Apple iPhone)? But then again, maybe I’m just hoping for too much? GDrive is expected to launch in the next few months, according to sources close to the WSJ.
