Discussion Question: Are Apple’s $129 OS Point Release Upgrades a Bit Much?
A question for the Apple users/fans: In all seriousness, does it ever get to you guys that you have to drop $129 for every point release of OS X (i.e.Tiger 10.4, Leopard 10.5)? Windows guys just have to pay when the OS gets a major platform revamp, say, from XP to Vista and Linux users (using non-commercial distros) get updates and kernel releases as they become available for free. Both alternatives offer new features and fixes with each update, which, at times, are considered point upgrades. Being the case, it seems to me that Apple would better serve its customers by charging by major release. Or no? MORE »
