Linutop is €280 Linux-based diskless computer designed specifically as a “Plug & Surf” Internet appliance that runs Xubuntu off a USB memory stick – pre-loaded with Firefox (browser), GAIM (Yahoo/MSN/AOL/ICQ/Jabber instant messanger), Abiword (word processor), and more. Just connect a keyboard, mouse, VGA monitor, and Ethernet cable, and you’re up and running.

    This is a great idea and fun lil product but unless my calculations are wrong this is a $450ish machine? A lot of desktop computer can be had for that same price….

    It’s actually $370. I agree with you, though. The Linutop is a bit pricey. But with all things, the price should come down with time.

    Its sort of the consumer version of the old linux thin client.

    When it gets sub $200 then I’ll get interested.
