Zune Music Now PlaysForSure Compatible?

zune to zen transfer screenshot

Here’s an interesting development. It turns out Zune Marketplace DRM-wrapped music files aren’t limited to being played back on the Zune music player, they’re also “unofficially” supported on some PlaysForSure devices. A detailed thread is available at Zunerama (via Cruchgear), but the gist of it is that a member (actually a member’s 13 year old daughter) figured out that music downloaded using her Zune Pass could be transferred to the Creative ZEN and played back without a problem. Note: At this time it isn’t clear if the ZEN player will actually respect the 15 day trial expiration on the music, or if it will allow one to keep the music indefinitely.
