Dish Network Satellite TV Add-In Card for Windows Vista Media Center in the Works

dish network logoFrom a Q&A with Dish Network at CES 2007, DBSTalk.com has found that the company is “working with Microsoft” to bring satellite TV to Vista Media Center but has no set release date due to “DRM issues to satisfy the copyright holders.” If the partnership turns out to be true (no official announcement from Microsoft has been released to date), Dish Network, along side DIRECTV, will be the two exclusive providers of satellite TV to the platform (via Chris Lanier’s Blog). It will be interesting to see how CableCARD – which costs a fortune to license for use on the PC – will fair once the two titians of satellite TV roll out their products to the general public. Thanks goes to Jason Meudt for the news tip!
