New Blu-ray Movie Backup Utility Released

lord of war blu-ray dicsChalk another one up for muslix64 and crew. It was just the other day when they released BackupHDDVD (reincarnated into a SourceForge project). Now they have figured out how to decrypt Blu-ray discs using a disc’s CPS unit key (whatever that is). The application will go by the name of BackupBluray and has already claimed one Hollywood title: Lord of War. WeslyTech.com and Doom9 have more details on how the hack was done, if you’re interested in the specifics (via Digg). My only question is: If BackupHDDVD and BackupBluray are going to be open-source SourceForge projects, aren’t they giving away the secret sauce on how their hack works back to the studios?
