Momento Wireless Digital Picture Frame Launches Nationwide

Consumers can now display, store and receive digital images anywhere with the launch of the Momento™ wireless digital picture frame from i-mate™, available for purchase online and in stores nationwide at the end of the month. Users can stream their digital photos from their PCs, play directly from a digital camera’s memory card, and send new pictures directly to the Momento™ device via the Momento™ Live! Service (www.momentolive.com), allowing them to share the moment — any time, anywhere.
The Momento™ wireless digital picture frame has been optimized and certified for use with the Windows® Vista™ operating system and is also compatible with Windows® XP™. Demonstrations of the Momento™ are available in the Microsoft® booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) #7144 in the Central Hall of the LVCC.
“All products with Certified for Windows® Vista™ logo status have undergone rigorous testing on a range of standards,” said Dave Wascha, director of marketing for Windows® Vista™ at Microsoft® Corp. “We have collaborated with the Momento™ development team to ensure a certified product of the highest quality that takes advantage of everything Vista™ has to offer.”
Also launching at CES is the Momento™ Live!™ online subscription service that works hand-in-hand with the Momento™, uniquely allowing users to receive digital pictures from anywhere in the world that can then be transferred instantly to the Momento™ device. Every Momento™ frame comes with a free 30-day trial to Momento™ Live!
“Momento™ gives users an unmatched, easy way to wirelessly fill the large, stunning LCD picture screen,” said David Hayes, CTO at i-mate™. “Up to this point, digital picture frames have lacked this essential connection to the PC and internet that have made other types of media devices an integral part of our everyday lives.”
As part of its optimization for Windows® Vista™, Momento™ wireless digital picture frames take advantage of Windows® SideShow allowing users to view PC based content on the Momento™ display screen such as email and instant message alerts, weather, stock quotes and more.
The Momento™ wireless digital picture frame comes in two models, the Momento™ 100 (MSRP $299), with a 10.2″ high-resolution 800 x 480 display, and the Momento™ 70 (MSRP $199.99), with a high-resolution 7″, 800 x 480 display screen. Additional features of the Momento™ include the ability to display photos in landscape or portrait form, built-in storage for favorite photos, customizable slideshows, mattes and frames and a remote control.

Specs sounds good.. let’s see if it’s a great product, unlike the eStarling!
What a letdown..
I still don’t like the “Pay us to send photos thru our website” model, but that could be resolved if the “cost” can be shared among friends..
Man, I’ve got to get back out to the CES!!!
If so I think they are not the optimal resolution, assuming most people using them would have taken pictures with a 4:3 ratio digital camera…?
I would have thought they would have gone with something like this one…
http://www.digivista.com.au/product…earview_10.html
which uses a standard 4:3 ratio at 640 x 480 pixels. This size is fast becoming the defacto standard for these products…
