Get NAS and Print Serving Functionality on the Cheap with Synology USB Station

synology usb stationEverything USB has posted a review of the Synology USB Station 3-in-1 SOHO Server. The $70 device [amazon] essentially allows users to plug in one external hard drive, and up to two printers, in a network router for sharing. Overall, Ian Chiu at Everything USB came away impressed by the device for its “affordable pricing, thorough manual and simplicity,” but notes that the Synology USB Station requires hard drives larger than 2GB to be formatted to EXT3 before it can use them and that the data transfer rate was sometimes sluggish.

I just bought one of these things for my small office. Installation was a snap, took less then 10 minutes, working great with a canon ip1500 and an Maxtor 300GB external. Great stuff!!
