MediaCentral 2 HTPC FrontEnd for Mac Loads Up on Features

equinix mediacentralIt wasn’t that long ago that we told you about MediaCentral, a HTPC front-end for use with your Mac to turn it into a home theater system. Well, Macworld brings us news about the new release and all that comes with it. MediaCentral 2 has added some significant new features, including one that many readers may not like – a price. The previous version was free, but as with most great things in life, that has come to an end. However, at $29.95, you may still find MediaCentral 2 to be a great deal once you see what that moolah gets you.

For one, your Mac will be kept up-to-date with wallpapers, movie trailers, and radio and tv stations. Plus, you can now store your media on a media server freeing up space on your Mac for more important things (like what, I don’t know). However, some of the biggest features are based around your connected lifestyle. Do you love GoogleVideo and YouTube content? Cool – because MediaCentral 2 does too and will make it easier for you to get to that content. You can also get to your IP TV content through MediaCentral, making you a cutting edge, IP TV connected fellow. Throw in games, digital TV support, radio and on and on and on and you’ve got a pretty impressive HTPC front-end for the Mac. It is certainly alot more than what you’ll get out of Front-Row. Even though it’s not free anymore, MediaCentral 2 may end up being a piece of must-have software for Mac users.
