RipIt4Me Software Helps You Rip Almost Any DVD

ripit4me logoFirst off, we all know that the only reason you should be ripping a DVD at all is to make a perfectly legal backup of a DVD you currently own. You should never rip a DVD that you don’t own, and we don’t condone using any software to do so. That said, if you’re familiar with tools like DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, you know that some recent DVD releases have been “un-rippable” by these programs, leaving you out-of-luck if you want to make a backup copy. Well, RipIt4Me is here to help you make your backups with their freeware utility (via LifeHacker).

These nefarious DVDs of question have started utilizing programs like ARccOS and RipGuard DVD to enforce stronger copy protections. With RipIt4Me, you need not worry about those enforcements anymore. Not only that, but you’ll be able to use RipIt4Me’s 1-Click Mode to take all of the headache out of the ripping process. The 1-Click Mode will ultimately land you in DVD Shrink, ready to restructure and resize your DVD to your specifications without having to worry about all of the intermediate steps. You will need to download separate Freeware programs to run with RipIt4Me, but these are easily found via Google and are detailed in the guide available at the RipIt4Me website.

How the program works

RipIt4Me uses DVD Decrypter as a ripping engine and FixVTS to clean the ripped files.

It shouldn’t take you much more time for you to use this method than if you had used DVD Decrypter on its own.

In short:

  1. Insert your original DVD that you wish to backup in your DVD reader/burner.
  2. The DVD will then be ripped to your hard disk.
  3. It will clean up the DVD and, if necessary, remove the bad cells from the VOB files, remove any fake titlesets and fix the pointers by running FixVTS.
  4. Finally, it will open up the ripped files in DVD Shrink for you.
