ZDNet: End to Win98 Support May Boost Desktop Linux
I couldn’t agree more with ZDNet’s article. Vista is still a ways off and migrating to XP at this stage doesn’t make sense if you’re a Windows 98 user. So what do you do when your product is no longer supported by the software developer, you’re system still has security vulnerabilities, and hardware manufactures have stopped making drivers for your PC? You checkout freely available Linux desktop distributions. Added bonus: most current Linux desktop distributions offer incredible hardware detection and support for commonly used peripherals. My preferred Linux desktop distribution at the moment for novices an power-users alike is, Ubuntu – it just won PC World’s ’100 Best Products of the Year’.
