Sondigo Sirocco Wireless Audio Streamer Reviewed
In todays world, it is all about having options. From fast food to cars, we’re used to having choices for everything we buy. Why should audio streaming devices be any different? Well, if you’re not willing to wait on the Philips Streamium device we recently covered, then the guys at Digital Trends are recommending another option for you to consider, the Sondigo Sirocco Audio Bridge. Coming in at a penny under $140, the Soricco can stream audio from your PC to your stereo system, including DRM protected media.
The unit is ugly, reminding the DT guys of 1980s computer equipment, but it does it’s job well. Though the Sirocco only supports Windows XP or 2000, it’s built-in Wi-Fi security standard support includes WEP (64/128 bits), WPA and WPA2, which is very nice for a device in this price range. However, since the unit is an audio streamer, you can’t playback different songs on the source PC and on your home theater – a nasty drawback that you need to know about. Sound output was good, if not stellar and supports 5.1 surround sound. With a final score of 8 out of 10, the unit doesn’t exactly get a “must buy,” but it is definitely worth your consideration.
