Vosonic VP8360 PMP Supports Laptop Hard Drives and Various Flash Memory Types

vosonic vp8360If you’re less than impressed with the paltry 60GB you can get on a new iPod, or feel hampered by the smallish screen, then Vosonic’s VP8360 PMP might tickle your fancy, although it is hefty at 8.3 ounces and you do have to supply your own hard drive (via Engadget, DAPreview). That said, you may consider the “Bring Your Own Storage” option nice, considering the fact that 120GB 2.5″ laptop hard drives are available now.

On the codec front, the 8360 supports the standard fare like MP3, WMA, WAV, CDA and AAC for music while video shouts out support for MPEG-1/2/4, MOV, WMV and XviD. A built-in FM Tuner and microphone for recording round out the PMP features. The Vosonic unit has card readers for the major flash media types Compact Flash, SD and Memory Stick, so you can do some serious photo transferring to this beast. Considering it supports several RAW photograph types, the 8360 is probably geared more towards the photo-nut rather than the average PMP consumer. Oh yeah – it also has Tetris, which would be a selling point almost by itself! The approximate $500 price tag may scare you off, but if you’re a real photo-nut, this unit is hard to ignore.
