AnyDVD Now Removes Both Movie DVD and Music CD Copy Protections

slysoft anydvd boxedSome of you may be familiar with AnyDVD, a Windows software application that works in the background to decrypt DVD copy protection (CSS) on the fly so one can easily make backup copies of their DVD movies, now SlySoft has added code to AnyDVD that will circumvent Macrovision’s CDS-300 copy protection (along with similar protection mechanisms) found on many recently released music CDs (via AfterDawn).

“Most customers don’t even know, that AnyDVD not just deals with movie DVDs, it also removes basically all copy restrictions of audio CDs,” says SlySoft’s CEO, Giancarlo Bettini. “Furthermore, it protects your operating system from the installation of unwanted drivers like the Sony ‘Root Kit’ or Settec Alpha-DVD. Therefore we recommend our customers to activate AnyDVD at all times.”

Overall, AnyDVD’s offering is quite impressive. According to its product page, users can remove RPC region codes, bypass unwanted movie features (copyright, FBI warnings, subtitles, auto-run ‘PC-friendly’ software), and assign preset applications to handle media playback. Not bad for a $40 application. But if you’re too cheap to buy AnyDVD, you might want to check out DVD43. A freeware background CSS monitoring script that works in a similar fashion, but without all the perks AnyDVD provides.
