Apple to Release Plasma HDTV with built-in Intel Viiv Mac OS 10.4.4?

apple displayOh the rumor mill! This one is a dandy, though it comes straight from the “sandwhich man” at the Wawa Deli, so take it with a grain of salt. Plus, with Macworld tomorrow, we’ll quickly find out if this is true when Mr. Jobs takes the stage for his keynote. Apparently, a friend of a friend told this guy that Apple is going to bust out 42 and 50 inch Plasma HDTVs. What, not enough of a rumor for ya? Well, there is more.

The HDTVs will also sport HDCP Content protection, which sounds like a bummer at first. However, far be it from Apple to bum out its legion of followers. The Plasma HDTVs will also support Intel Viiv multimedia technology by running Mac OS 10.4.4 for x86! Apparently, these HDTVs will also support built-in Bluetooth and WiFi. Also, the “sandwhich man” mentioned a 12-button remote with LCD display that will “blow you away.”

Whereas these rumors are completely unsubstantiated, it does seem somewhat plausible, as the Apple/Intel release is due to happen soon. Apple also has a thing for integrated devices. Rumor or not, tomorrow will be an interesting day indeed!

Thanks goes to Jason Meudt for the news tip!

Hard to believe that this would cost only 1k more than the 30″ cinema display and include a next gen processor plus an additoinal 12″ on screen size. It’s nice to dream though.

I think the lack of news / rumors shows that indeed something big is on the way.

I truly doubt the rumors. It sounds amazing, and something that Apple would do, but I’m not sure they’re ready for this yet. That said, I am eagerly awaiting to hear what Jobs has to say tomorrow.
