TiVo Series 3 Features Dual-Tuner, Hi-Def and CableCARD Support
One of the nice surprises at this year’s CES was the unveiling of the TiVo Series 3 PVR. It looks like TiVo has been waiting to combine all the functionality TiVo users have wanted into one glorious package. And it is definitely impressive, make no mistake about it. Do you want to record 2 shows at once? Check. How about CableCARD 2.0 support? Check. Over-the-air Hi-Def support? Check. Oh, but there’s even more.
The newest – and grandest – TiVo also sports Hi-Def output in the form of not only Component, but also HDMI. There’s also built-in Ethernet, USB 2.0 ports, a SATA expansion port and Digital Optical Out. Additionally, the front of the unit has a built-in display that shows you what show you’re currently recording. The remote has been reworked and backlit as well. TiVo has really outdone themselves with this unit. The Series 3 should be available late this year. No price is currently set.
