Unlimited Online Storage Through Allmydata.com
Using Peer-to-Peer technology, Allmydata.com provides users with a unique way to backup your important data through an online service (via Red Ferret). The service is free if you agree to allow storage at a 10 to 1 ratio. In other words, if you provide 10GB of storage, you get back 1GB online. While this may seem like a poor trade-off, consider this: 10GB of storage on your local PC is still prone to hardware failure and thus, still losing your information.
Allmydata is also setting up paid plans where a monthly fee will adjust your sharing ratio. For $2.99 a month, you get a 1 to 1 ratio. If you’re just not keen on sharing your storage, you can get the online storage without sharing by paying $4.99 a month for 10Gb, $9.99 for 100Gb or $29.99 for a full 1000Gb of storage. These plans are not yet available, so we’ll keep an eye out for when they are offered.
