CBS Considers Offering Shows on iTunes Store

cbs logoIn what has to be considered a promising trend, CBS is considering offering some of its primetime shows for sale on the iTunes Store (via iLounge). CBS Digital President Larry Kramer indicated this week that the deal is a strong possibility so long as the economics of the deal make sense for CBS. Currently, only ABC (and it’s subsidiary, ABC Family) offer shows on iTunes. CBS is currently offering downloads of freshman TV Show “Threshold” through CBS.com.

It appears that Apple, once again, has taken a trend on the outskirts of the mainstream and pushed it into the public lexicon. If CBS signs on, NBC would be remiss in not also offering content. Once the big 3 are on board – the competition could push downloadable video content to the forefront and possibly create a new, un-tapped market that Apple will be the leader in once again.
