TiVo System Software 7.2.1 Adds Network Overlap Protection
Zatz Not Funny is reporting today that TiVo system software 7.2.1 has begun rolling out to TiVo Series 2 owners. The latest trick feature? Network Overlap Protection. Dave Zatz comments to us, “Within the last year or so, networks introduced the technique of starting shows early or ending them late as a method of keeping viewers locked to their station. Amongst DVR users, overlapping show conflicts resulted in recordings being dropped. TiVo’s 7.2.1 software now provides the ability to record BOTH shows if one happens to overlap the other by a few minutes. The show that doesn’t get ‘clipped’ is determined by Season Pass priority.” Sounds like an elegant fix to an ugly problem.
